The Operation of Three-Phase Motors

Three-phase electric motors have their operation based on the rotating electric field and this field arises when the alternating power system is applied at the poles of an engine.

The speed in three-phase motors is achieved by the frequency of the power supply, providing excellent conditions for constant speeds.

The speed of rotation that the three-phase electric motor works is provided by the speed of the rotating electric field and this is called the synchronous speed. The synchronous speed is determined as a function of the number of poles of the motor, according to their construction, depending on the frequency that arrives at the motor entrance. Then we conclude that the speed of the three-phase motor is proportional to the motor frequency.

Most of the electricity distributed industrially is AC (alternating current) and three-phase AC motors are less complex than DC motors. This is the reason for the wide use of these electric motors, in addition, the absence of mobile contacts in your motor ensures its operation for a longer period without the need for maintenance.
